Appsee Native (Android) Integration Instructions

Important Note

Video recording is not supported when running in Emulator. Please use a real device to test video recordings.
You can install the Android SDK via gradle (recommended), manually, or via Fabric.
  • Configure your project with gradle if you haven't done so.
    If you are not using gradle, you can install Appsee manually.
  • Add the Appsee as a dependency to your build.gradle file: dependencies {
      compile 'com.appsee:appsee-android:+'
    }
  • In every activity that is an entry point* to your app add: import com.appsee.Appsee;and add a call to Appsee.start inside the onCreate method:
    Appsee.start("YOUR API KEY"); Your API keys are available in the Appsee dashboard.
    You will need to register or login in order to view your API keys.

    *Entry activities are usually those which have a custom <intent-filter> element in the AndroidManifest.xml file.
  • If you're using ProGuard, add the following configuration to the "proguard-project.txt" file: -keep class com.appsee.** { *; }
    -dontwarn com.appsee.**
    -keep class android.support.** { *; }
    -keep interface android.support.** { *; }
    -keepattributes SourceFile,LineNumberTable
    And remove the following, if defined: -renamesourcefileattribute SourceFile
That's it, you're good to go!
Now, launch your app, use it for a few seconds and minimize the app to the background.
Visit the dashboard to view your first recording.
